District Governor

We all belong to a world which is very consistent and dynamic at the same time. This mother earth has an established rhythm of day and night, months, years and seasons. Yet every year old dry leaves wither off in autumn and fresh leaves sprout in spring.

Our Rotary world is very similar. We have established time-tested practices that ensure consistent adherence to values of service and transparency, and unswerving focus on the twin purpose of fellowship and service to humanity through well-defined avenues of Promoting Peace, Fighting Disease, Water & Sanitation, Infant Mortality, Basic Education and Community Development. At the same time, a fresh spring starts every year in July with the new Rotary leaders at Club, District and International levels bringing with them fresh out-of-the-box approaches to same old issues.

I feel proud and humble at the same time to lead District 3141. Proud to represent a District that has to its credit innumerable humanitarian projects year after year, and a stellar record of being on the top rung in its contributions to The Rotary Foundation. Humble to realize that there are miles to go and promises to keep.

Our guiding light this year is the inspirational message from our Rotary International President, Barry Rassin. He has exhorted Rotarians “to think differently about our role in Rotary, and Rotary’s role in the world to achieve truly transformational service… to focus on larger projects that have a more lasting impact, taking the time to research and plan work that spans Rotary years and terms of office… to Be the Inspiration for positive change, inspiring our clubs, our communities, and our organization to face today’s challenges head on, with courage, optimism, and creativity.”

With enhanced enthusiasm, larger membership and improved organizational skills, I am extremely confident that all the Inspiring Presidents and their Teams as well as District Officers are fully geared to take on the challenges that lie ahead of us in the Miracle Year 2018-19 and beyond.

Yes… our theme for the year is “MIRACLE – Make It Happen! Nothing is Impossible!”. I truly believe that Miracles always happen when you believe. For me, Miracle in Rotary is an exceptional achievement or a remarkable development that brings with it welcome consequences. Everyday holds the possibility of a Miracle. Let us all expect Miracles in Miracle Year 2018-19 work for the communities in need to achieve them!
