Little Heart Surgeries
Rotary Club of Mumbai Lakers has been partnering closely with the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital’s Children’s Heart Centre, to fund pediatric heart surgeries for underprivileged children since last 6 years.

The Children’s Heart Centre (CHC) at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital (KDAH) started functioning in 2009, with a dedicated & experienced team of Pediatric Cardiologists, Pediatric Cardiac Surgeons, Anesthesiologists, Intensivists & Nurses.
In the span of eight years, CHC has grown to be the largest centre in Western India, delivering care to children with heart ailments from a few hours after birth to older ones in adulthood.
Project The Little Heart Surgeries was started by Rotary in the year 2012 – 13 by then District Governor Rtn.Dr.Bal Inamdar
To date nearly 7500 children have been treated by surgery or interventions for congenital heart defects at the CHC of KDAH. 70 percent of the children have been new borns or infants. The youngest baby to undergo surgery has been 5 hours after birth and the oldest person to have complex congenital heart repair had been 48 years of age.
Rotary, till date have touched the hearts of 450 children.
The Rotary Club of Mumbai Lakers have been involved with this initiative from the start.
We try to support as many surgeries as possible by helping children who are waiting for the gap in funding so they can have their surgery scheduled.
For the Rotary Year starting 1st July 2016 to 30th Jun 2017 we supported the surgeries of 93 kids
For the Rotary Year starting 1st July 2017 to 30th Sep 2017 we supported the surgeries of 15 kids.
Cost of Little Heart Surgeries can range from Rs. 20,000 to Rs. 2.75 lakh per child depending on the type of procedure involved, which varies from Truncus Arteriousus Repair an A+ category to Pericadriocentesis a F category procedure.
